Youth Bible Study, Basic Christian Theology Page 10

Every Christian teacher should have this incredible resource in their library. Teenagers are ready for some Christian apologetics. I've used this book countless times in preparing the Bible Study lessons for youth on this website.

42816: A Ready Defense

A Ready Defense
By Bill Wilson, comp. / Thomas Nelson

Here is evidence for the Christian faith by one of its premier defenders! Topically arranged, this "best of Josh McDowell" gives you more than 60 well-reasoned arguments from creation to the virgin birth to the resurrection of Jesus and much more. Ideal for skeptics who are curious about Christianity and for Christians who want to learn how to defend their faith. 566 pages, softcover from Nelson.

The Bible, a Very Special Book.
teen Bible lesson handout

The goal of this Bible study lesson is the same reason Luke gives for writing his book, “so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.” (Luke 1:4). As kids begin forming their own faith apart from their parents it is imperative we give them a firm base. Confidence in the source of the information used in forming their faith is essential.

This is a two page lesson plan with leaders guide. A lot of information was gleaned out of Josh McDowell's book show above and The Navigators study guide shown below.

481918: The Word: 4-Week DVD Curriculum The Word: 4-Week DVD Curriculum
By Johnny Scott / Group Publishing

Help teenagers explore the life-giving richness of God's Word with this DVD-based curriculum from Johnny Scott, Christ In Youth's junior high program director, and teenage author and speaker Jacqueline Pierre.

Each session features a teaching segment filmed on location overseas, helping your students visually experience the history and richness of God's Word. The series includes four powerful lessons:

Lesson 1: How the Word began [5:13]
Lesson 2: The Word comes alive [7:32]
Lesson 3: Hide the Word in your heart [4:35]
Lesson 4: The Word tells us about our hope [4:14]

The curriculum includes loads of useful materials to help you, including discussion guides, promotional materials, and more. And because all of the resources are editable and reproducible, you can tweak away and infuse them with your ministry's unique flavor!

God Wants A Monopoly On Your Life
Sunday School Lesson plan

This Bible study lesson focuses on the deceitfulness of possessions and worldly desires. Help your youth group kids look for things that take precedence over their relationship with God. This may be the first time that they think about making a serious commitment to God. Discover the difference in viewing God as a part of our lives compared to feeling that we are servants of God for Him to use in His life.

This is a one page lesson plan with leaders guide. For a pre-lesson activity we play a few hands of the board game Monopoly. I renamed the titles of the squares to things like Money, friends, video game, etc. Better yet, buy the electronic game for your Wii. It's actually fun.

The book below is a remarkable devotional on the same topic, combating materialism. Have a few copies ready and suggest them to parents as a continuing education devotional series for their kids. Download a free sample lesson provided by Simply Youth Ministry - simplifying ministry and saving you time! See how life changing this can be.

438622: Stripped Clean: Down to Nothing But the Cross Stripped Clean: Down to Nothing But the Cross
By Jeff Storm / Group Publishing

Do your teens own stuff? Or does their stuff own them? Give kids a guilt-free, life-changing look at materialism that will strip away the messages of a "gotta have it" society and teach them how to tread lightly in God's world. Filled with thought- and action-provoking readings and activities. 128 pages, 5.5" x 7" spiralbound "consumable" softcover from Group.
70000: Bibleopoly Game Bibleopoly Game

With Bibleopoly, you can enjoy the fun of a property trading game while learning about the remarkable cities of the Bible! Start "In the Beginning", and travel through biblical cites of Meditation, Community Celebration, and occasionally the Abyss! You can earn a Cornerstone by helping a fellow player, or but doing community service, and make offerings in order to earn the bricks and steeple you need to build a church. Watch out for the "Go Meditate" spot on the board, though--you'll lose three turns! Also, though good deeds are rewarded, sometimes "Faith Cards" intervene. Recommended for 2 to 6 players, ages 8 to adult.

Calloused Hearts
youth bible lesson

The goal of this youth Bible study is to demonstrate the slow degradation of our ideas of right and wrong when we plunge in to societies norms without the knowledge of scripture as a foundation. We demonstrate the change in our attitudes by looking at the changes in acceptable swim wear from 1920 to 1967.

I first wrote this lesson to show how violent video games deaden our sensitivity to killing and death. The boys in one youth group were incensed when I banned Halo and other violent games that my predecessor had played with them a lot, even setting up tournaments. Read more on my blog.

This is a two-page Bible study with a pre-lesson activity that reinforces the lesson. It also includes a teachers guide.

Youth Bible Study based on The Bible should have some Christian apologetics to give teenagers confidence that the source they are using is reliable and trustworthy. The Bible study lessons on this page will firm up a teenagers faith.
