436980: Scary, Gross & Weird
Some of the best stories in the Bible are also some of the most unexpected and unusual. And they're not for the faint of heart. These Bible lessons truly are sick. . . and totally interesting! Surprise your teenagers with the "disgusting" truth! Each of the 13 easy-to-use lessons focuses on a relevant topic related to a scary, gross or weird Bible story and includes a challenging "Fear Factor"-like activity (like eating daring treats), a fun game and thought-provoking discussion questions that help teens uncover life application.

My Sunday school lessons are not meant to be a full curriculum by themselves. I wrote them in response to bad theology that the teens had already been subjected to.  The main focus of a Sunday school lesson, however, should be to establish a relationship between Jesus and your students. This new resource, shown below, will help considerably.

Reframing Jesus: A Fresh Look Into a Familiar Face Kit
By Kurt Johnston / Group Publishing

We spend a lot of time talking about Jesus in our youth ministries. But are we really, truly introducing our teenagers to Jesus?

This conversation-driven DVD curriculum features 4 weeks of student sessions with veteran youth pastor Kurt Johnston that will help teenagers "reframe" what they think they already know about Jesus, so they can grow in relationship with him.

And as an added bonus, the curriculum includes 6 weeks of ministry training for leaders. Rick Lawrence, longtime editor of Group Magazine and author of Jesus Centered Youth Ministry, will help your team discover the power of building a youth ministry that’s truly, fully centered on Jesus.

Do more than just teach your students about Jesus. Help them live a Jesus-centered life.

What visitors are saying:

"I am so grateful for your website.  I am a new youth leader and was a little nervous about doing the lessons.  Last week I did families-getting along, and it was awesome.  I made a few changes (mostly to make it a little shorter) but it gave me what I needed to get started.  I am not a teacher, so building a lesson from scratch is beyond me.  Anyway, I just wanted to thank you and may God bless you for providing such a wonderful resource to people." Jill.
Thank you Jill. Great to hear it. Send e-mail to:

"Kevin, I am a 65 yr. old woman who has been placed in the Youth Ministry twice and now I feel called to continue with the wonderful blessing of working with young people.
I started reviewing your web site at 11:00 pm and it is now 3:31 am.  I have gotten so many wonderful ideas and am so thrilled. I have searched through several things on the site and learned so much."

"I am in charge of the Children and Youth ministry at a small church.  I find lots of good material for the younger and the senior high, but very slim pickins’ for the Jr. High.  I haven’t even done one of your lessons but I know that it is good material because you are aiming HIGH-  God’s Word is central to all the issues jr. high are dealing with.    I am excited to see teachers use this material and thank you for making it FREE-  we are a big mission giving church with a little budget for ourselves.  Thank you so much.  I know our kids will actually grow.  Jr. High years are so KEY to them entering this world."

977235: TrueU 03: Who Is Jesus? Building a Comprehensive Case Small Group Curriculum TrueU 03: Who Is Jesus? Building a Comprehensive Case Small Group Curriculum
By Tyndale House

For over 2,000 years, people everywhere have continued to grapple with this all-important question: Who is Jesus?

The answer is available - but it is often clouded by misunderstanding and mistruth. Unfortunately, this is especially the case on today's college campuses, where facts are regularly blurred in the name of tolerance and pluralism.

TrueU: Who is Jesus? is designed to help students and young adults discover the truth about Jesus - for themselves. Dr. Del Tackett, host of Focus on the Family's The Truth Project, is assisted by guest experts Lee Strobel, Gary Habermas, and others. Together they intelligently explore Jesus's ancestry and prophetic mission; His words, works, and character; His death and resurrection; whether Jesus is the only way to God; and more.

This box set includes:
  • Two DVDs (in one case), each with five 30-minute lessons [10 lessons total]
  • A Discussion Guide (Additional Discussion Guides sold separately)

These youth group lesson plans are not an attempt to be a well rounded teen curriculum. Over the years, listening to the teenagers in my Sunday school classes, I endeavor to feed them the spiritual "meat" they need to grow in their Christian faith.  Many of these topics are not handled well by main stream "curriculum factories" so I write my own. You are welcome to use them.

216809: The Ideas Factory: 100 Adaptable Discussion Starters to Get Teens Talking The Ideas Factory: 100 Adaptable Discussion Starters to Get Teens Talking
One hundred adaptable discussion starters provide a brief story, usually factual, followed by a series of provocative questions. Each story explores a topic pertinent to young people, such as drugs, truancy, or parental relationships; or an important biblical concept, such as giving, the afterlife, or love.

The questions begin with general issues before moving on to what the Bible has to say. Extra questions are included for use with unchurched young people. The last twenty-five discussion starters provide a journey through the main stories and themes of the Bible. With its attitude of fearless exploration, and the tools for discussion provided throughout, The Ideas Factory is a priceless resource for youth leaders.

The Sunday school & Youth Group Bible lesson plans, articles, and Bible lesson handouts listed on this page are unique and completely FREE. They are suitable not only for Sunday school but for your mid-week youth group lesson as well. They are easy to use with minimal preparation. The questions and verses keep you on track even if your brain freezes or the discussion wanders off subject. Each Sunday school Bible lesson is a suitable, challenging topic for teenagers.
